IE-only problem? Need help..

United States

When viewing my site http://www.keycontent.org] in IE6, the status bar of the browser window reports the following error:

Image
Copy to clipboard
Line: 184 Char: 2 Error: Object required Code: 0 URL: http://www.keycontent.org/tiki-custom_home.php

However, there is nothing at line 184 — it is a blank line. Everything on the page appears to be fine. I get no such warnings in Opera or Firefox. Can someone please take a look and tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks,

It is not a problem on the tiki code, but a problem with the javascript files that get included.

Just educate the users to use a better firefox browser :-)

As long as 80%+ of the world (90%+ in some demographics) use IE, I really would like to fix the problem. How can I deterine exactly which JS file is causing the problem?

Rick,

I agree with you about IE compatibility - Tiki needs to be totally compatible with IE.

However, I find Mozilla very useful for debugging javascript errors because of its JavaScript Console feature in the Tools menu, which shows errors in realtime and gives a lot more information than the error messages that pop up in IE.

In Mozilla, the errors are still happening, they just don't pop up - you have to look at the JavaScript Console. You can then also double-click on an error listed in the Console, and it will open the .js file and highlight the line in the .js where the error occured.

Go check it out!

Thanks for the info. So, I'm getting the following error:

Image
Copy to clipboard
Error: document.getElementById(foo) has no properties Source File: http://www.keycontent.org/lib/tiki-js.js Line: 183

And the line in question is:

Image
Copy to clipboard
function flip(foo) { >>>>> if (document.getElementById(foo).style.display == "none") { show(foo); } else { if (document.getElementById(foo).style.display == "block") { hide(foo); } else { show(foo); } } }

I'm no Javascript expert. Can anyone help decipher what exactly the problem is? Or what I've done wrong?

Thanks,

I faced the same problem which I got rid of (if my memory serves right) by simply deleting tiki-user_menu.tpl in templates/styles/moreneat. If that doesn't do it, let me know...I'll check the files and write again.

Nope, not it. My Tiki does not have user-specific menus enabled. I have no tiki-user_menu.tpl in my templates/style folder.

Thanks though...
