Special character erasing text

When I add special characters (alpha, beta, etc.) to a page using the button in the editing menu, then save the page, all text from the first special character on is deleted permanently. I can recover with Rollback, but cannot enter Greek letters or other symbols.

Any suggestions where problem lies? Thx.

I was unable to duplicate your issue — everything appears to be working correctly on the Tiki demo site: http://demo.tiki.org/trunk/Special+Characters

Can you test it again?

Maybe there's something specific with your setup? Some additional information would be helpful:

  • What Tiki version are you using?
  • What is your host environment?
  • What editing mode are you using?

Thanks for the check Rick.

I am using Tiki 9.2 on Bluehost Pro. I edit in basic mode.

This only happens when I use the special characters button. I can add special characters to BBEdit text then copy the text in with no problems. Once a character is placed on a page (either with BBEdit or when revising previously edited pages), the characters behave normally.

Tried it on Repository Ninezone, and got same problem.

1. Created page called "Testing special character error."
2. Added plain text and saved. Page displayed normally.
3. Edited page again, and added two Greek letters.
4. When I saved the second time, all text from the first Greek letter inserted was deleted.
5. Can use history to roll back and recover (sans Greek letters).

I suspect a local file error, since it occurs on two different installations, but not sure where to look.

Using a Mac with Snow Leopard (10.6).

Thx
Dan

I just upgraded from 10.2 to 11.1 hoping to fix this problem. Both version delete text using special characters insert using the character feature of the editor. mu, epsilon, pi, kappa, h bar were used. epsilon is the first special character and the start of the deleted text. Does anyone have a work around?
