Lost System Menu missing from Anonymous Users

Hi Tiki People

I have just begun using TIKI24LTS. My wiki is at https://wiki.fionasuniverse.com/HomePage

I have somehow managed to remove the System Menu down the left hand side for anonymous users. All that is displayed is Home Search, & Wiki. I was hoping to display the System Menu to everyone down the left hand side.

I’m not sure which setting I need to change to have the System Menu show for everyone. Can anyone help please?

Hi @Fiona Nevell
I think that's quite normal - anonymous users aren't allowed to do much by default, view wiki pages and search basically, so that's all we can see on that menu.

Tiki operates on a philosophy of WYSIWYCA which is "What You See is What You Can Access" (pronounced wizzy-wikka ) so more options should appear if you grant the anonymous group more permissions, which is quite a complicated area mrgreen

Usually though, i'll make a special menu for "normal" users with the pages and resources on as links and keep the system menu (#42) just for site admins and managers...

Welcome to Tiki!

Users will only see options in the System Menu that are:

  • Enabled
  • They have permission to use

For example, if you don't have the Category feature enabled, the Categories menu item will not appear.

If you do have the feature enabled, but some users don't have Permission to use the feature, the menu item won't display for them (but it will display for the admin user, for example).

As suggested by Jonny, commonly folks keep the full System Menu visible only for Admin-group users, and create a separate menu for everyone else. You might find this primer helpful!
