Before you start back up your database!
I like to change the name of the exisiting TW directory and make a new one. Then upload by ftp or un tar at the server in the new directory.
Run the install script, which should come up when you go to your new dir.
otherwise yousite/tiki/tiki-install.php
Choose upgrade 1.83 to 1.84. And hopfully job done!
The tiki light is a new endever to make a less feature rich TW that is easier for uploading. I believe that if you install the light ver. then you may at a later time upgrade it to the full ver.
However, if you have an existing full TW you would not use the light for an upgrade. In your case you would use the tikiwiki-1.8.4.tar.gz.
Make sure you are using a fresh download as there was some problem with the file some time back. (week of so)
