Parse error

I'm using phpdev to install apache, php and mysql to windows. I successfully installed tiki 1.7.1.1, but I skipped the chmod thing. Evrything goes well. Then, I tried add the features under admin --> Features and added various thing such as articles, directories, menus and others.

When I tried to add menus, and click submit (or similar) below message appears in the next page.

Parse error: parse error in c:\phpdev\www\tikiwiki1711\templates_c\preferences.php on line 12

I checked back admin --> Features and found out that all the menus are back to default, artciles, directories, menus and others are unchecked. Is this a bug?question

I also found out that the file \preferences.php appeared in the directory. I know this file is not in the distribution file. I'm confused.

The preferences.php is a dynamically created file. If your Tiki gets messed up it's always worth a try to delete the entire contents of your templates_c directory.

Pat.
