How to change the "from" of confirmatin emails

I am using TikiWiki 1.8.4 on Fedora Core 2.

Emails from my new TikiWiki site come from apache at localhost.localdomain. The spam filtering service we use rejects this because they only allow email to come from a specific domain and users. I would like to change apache at localhost.localdomain to me at mydomain.org. I tried changing sendmail_from in php.ini and also in the admin general settings Sender email. Neither seems to have any effect.

Thank you for any help.

Thank you for helping. I did find the admin/general sender email and changed it but that doesn't seem to change the sender for confirmation emails. I am very new to PHP but I did find that the send appears to reference a $sender_email variable. It seems like that variable is being set to apache at localhost.localdomain. Grep tells me that $sender_email is used in these templates and pages:

tiki/tiki-send_newsletters.php
tiki/tiki-register.php
tiki/templates/tiki-admin-include-general.tpl
tiki/lib/userslib.php
tiki/lib/tikilib.php
tiki/lib/articles/artlib.php
tiki/lib/blogs/bloglib.php
tiki/lib/trackers/trackerlib.php
tiki/lib/registration/registrationlib.php
tiki/lib/messu/messulib.php
tiki/lib/newsletters/nllib.php
tiki/tiki-setup.php
tiki/tiki-view_forum_thread.php
tiki/tiki-remind_password.php
tiki/tiki-view_forum.php
tiki/comments.php
tiki/tiki-map_edit.php
tiki/tiki-send_blog_post.php

It looks like I could hard code these references but I would rather do it right and possibly learn something about TikiWiki in the process. Is the value on the preferences page supposed to be tied to the $sender_email variable?

Thank you again for your help.
