Install 1.7.1.1 error

I have problems with 1.7.1.1

Following the manual, I have created theMysql tiki db
When trying to open tiki-install.php, I had the following error:

Warning: Failed opening '/srv/www/htdocs/tiki/tiki-install.php' for inclusion (include_path='.:/usr/share/php') in Unknown on line 0

So I operated with mysql:
mysql source tiki.sql
and then updated to tiki.1.6to1.7.sql

But again, when opening tiki-index.php
I get a similar error as above.

Previously, after a lot of ttrials, I had been able to install 1.6, and login. But, as a lot of other users, I have not been able to login again.

Server: Linux Suse. Apache.
Workstation: Windows2K, Opera.
Php 4 is installed, and works fine with other (open source) packages, like Tutos. I do not see a PEAR directory, but I am new to Linux, and do not know where to look for it or check.

I hope you can help me.
Thanks.

PEAR is included with Tiki (/lib/pear). Are your permissions on files and directories in '/srv/www/htdocs' set correctly?

Owner is root/root
I have set to 777 (as from a message on the web):
backups
dump
db
img(wiki
img/wiki_up
modules/cache
temp
templates_c

Now I have cggrp'ed to www those dirs.
The other dir/files have different owner/group and permissions. not changed by me.
On the server, I am logged as root.
On the ws I am logged as pmoro. This user is also enabled on the firewall, with admin permissions.

Regards.

You also have to make sure that all your tiki directories/files are readable by the user who is running the webserver. Typically this is the 'apache' or 'nobody' user. So the ownerships of root:root could be causing problems.

Pat.

I have been to install it. Really it was a problem of ownership!
Now, I am logged as admin.
The (only) problem is that I cannot see the left menu, "application".
All files are set to 777.
Thank you.

Go to the URL ../tiki-admin_modules.php and see if you the 'application menu' is listed under Assigned modules. With a fresh install and as user 'admin' you should normally see the main menu.

Also if you running your Tiki on a public webserver do not leave all your files in mode 777; it's potentially dangerous. It's OK for testing etc but change them afterwards.

Regards,

Pat.
