Changine box ^ to ^^

Hi, Does anyone know where the quicktag engine is so that I can changed the box quicktag ^ to ^^ I'm a little surprised a single character was used, especially a math character such as ^. Also, it seem there would be less conflict if the present format was changed to something resembling html, not to mention that more people would already know it, and also not to mention that nearly all forums use html format. I mean, some people actually type ^, especially technical people since it is a math symbol. Why not replace __ with closed by or === with closed by or '' with closed by Also when a person scrolls down to read the wiki syntax the first thing the see is the below text Emphasis: '' for italics, __ for bold, ''__ for both The '' looks like double quotes and is not very clear. How about something like Emphasis: Use two single quotes (not one double quote) '' for italics, two underscores __ for bold No offense, but I hope all this goes away with the wysiwyg editor. Will that be available soon? YT

LOL, I see that my post, which was within the code tags has revealed yet another bug. I thought tikiwiki was a very old system, so why so many apparent bugs and issues?

In my above post, at least on Firefox 1.506, a great deal of my post is chopped off. It is fine with MSIE. My above post is placed in the "code" tag because it would not allow me to type the

math symbol, lol. I understand there's probably a way to type the math power character, perhaps %blablabla or &blablabla; but most people do not know that.

I give up! TikiWiki is a nightmare, one big cpu and memory intensive beast. There's a smart ways of having the dynamic capabilities that you presently have without killing the poor servers. As way of example, consider why computer programs are compiled. You might want to compile all the vast tags that the poor tikiwiki engine has to interpret on the fly. So when ever someone creates or edits a wiki page it would then be compiled. I'm sure most of you have misunderstood what I'm trying to say, but I don't have much time. Oh, and another trick, you should have development files and live files! For example, just the css file for tikimedia theme takes up 38K, but when you strip out all the comments you get 28K! It is a piece of cake to have a script strip out the comments. It's just common sense. In programming it's the little things that add up.

good luck amigos!

It's a feature, not a bug! smile

Wiki syntax's purpose is to make it easier to edit and more legible for non technical users, and without people having to learn html.

It also keeps things clean so it is possible to have understandable diffs in the version history.
