This is a bug, and afaik, it has been already solved by sylvieg in trunk, so it will be fixed in Tiki 4.0, and if someones backports it to branch 3.x and commits to propsed branch, it might get included into tiki 3.2 whenever it's released.
You are welcome to look for sylvieg's bug fix (ask her, if needed) and backport it.
