Can't assign menu to users + Rename url's

I gave up on TikiWiki shortly after my last post in the forum, but decided to give it a go again. However I quickly ran into an issue I can't find any solution to, so hope someone in here can point me in the right direction.

1. I try to create a menu for each of the 5 user groups I have, so only certain links are showing for certain members of site.
- I have created a menu with 3 entries, for basic users with login.
- I go to "Select Group" under "Admin -> Menus", and tick Registered (I untick the rest), and press "Select"
- I then unassign "Registered users" from the "Application Menu"
- It seems to have been saved, but when I refresh the page, while being logged in as a registered user, I still can see the application menu. When I check the menu settings, they are back to what they were before.

Question: What am I doing wrong? What folder are these settings saved in? (I want to check I got the CHMOD settings right)

Other info: When I try to assign permissions under menus, I get the following error. Does anyone know what this is?

Notice: Undefined index: perm in /home/*snip*/tiki.mydomain.com/tiki-objectpermissions.php on line 188

Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /home/*snip*/tiki.mydomain.com/tiki-objectpermissions.php on line 188

2. Is there a way to rename all url's, so they don't start with tiki-?

Thanks

1. Do your other groups inherit the Registered group? If so, they'll be able to see the menu options, too. Think of it this way: any user who can log in is part of the Registered. Also, remember to clear the Tiki cache, as needed. Please see the docs for details.

Note that your settings are saved in the database — not a specific configuration file.

2. Yes, use the SEFURL option.

1. The groups are as follows:
Anonymous, Registered, Editors, SubAdmins, Admins.

Each group inherit the the menu settings from the users below them. I assumed doing it like this, would allow me to only add new menu items for not present in lower groups, as they would inherit other menu items from groups below them.

Currently I am stuck on the Registered level, which is inheriting settings from Anonymous. The user anonymous doesn't have a menu or any rights.

I think the reason why this might be messed up is because I removed all the standard menus from the installation (Except the Application Menu") Maybe I should try and reinstall it again a third time :-)

2. SEFURL seems to be an add-on mod?

Thanks again

Thanks again for your help. Greatly appriciated :-)

The URL hint feature works for most of the links, but leaves out links like "tiki-searchresults.php" and "tiki-index.php".

Is there a way to change the last few links manually as I encounter them?

Did you set the permissions on the menu options or on the module that use the menu. Perms are only on individual options (be careful at this level it is a and between groups the user must bekong to all the selected groups) . Or perms are on modules (in this case the module if the user belongs to one of the selected groups. I am not aware on perm on menus

I have only changed permissions through the "Admin -> Permission" link. I selected all groups, and cleared all permissions for anonymous and most for registered users.

Somehow this seems to have messed it up quite badly, so I will try to reinstall to see if it is better just to modify groups one by one, instead of all in one go.

UPDATE:
After reinstall, it seems to be working as intended.

I discovered one of the reasons to why everything was so confusing, was that I went through all templates available during my last installation (For testing).

And when changing from one template to another, the old menus are left behind, which left me with a big mix of all templates.

This time I only used the "intranet" template, and I am not getting any errors as before :-)
