You can use the Local Files plugin (has limited support). See the original feature request for details.

Hi Thanks for the replies. 

Torsten I am trying to find a way of inserting a link into a wiki page which points to a file or folder on a network drive.

Have been going through the info Rick posted but can't seem to get it to work yet!
