Users with the appropriate permissions unable to download files

I am responsible for our teams internal Knowledge base / tiki wiki. (Tiki version: 14.0 (InnoDB) )

Currently I have permissions for files ( Can download files (tiki_p_download_files)) set to allow anyone access to them. However, when attempting to download a file on my non admin account, I get a "Error: Permission denied" message.

Any ideas on how I can fix this problem?

Hi tc9393,

what are the preferences of your file gallery?

did you set:

Gallery is visible to non-admin users => checked

Gallery is unlocked => not checked

Respect permissions for backlinks to view a file => checked

This would be the first thing to look after.

Then you shouldcheck, if you have any category permissions or object permissions apllied to the file gallery or to the file(s) which block the global permissions.

Please mind:

1. category permissions overwrite general permissions

2. object permissions overwrite category and general permissions

Torsten

Forgive me as I am still learning the interface for Tiki Wiki and I am still teaching myself the finer points of administrating it.    I have included a screenshot of my File Gallery Permissions. If you tell me where in the general permissions I need to look (or how to find object permissions as im not sure where to find those) I will go explore further.

Hi,

NOT in permissions.

I am talking about the preferences of your file gallery to find here:

http://yourdomain.com/tiki-list_file_gallery.php?edit_mode=1&galleryId=IdNumberOfTheFileGallery

Ahh Thank you! I was able to get into the perferences and make the changes you mentioned in your first post :

Gallery is visible to non-admin users => checked

Gallery is unlocked => not checked

Respect permissions for backlinks to view a file => checked

However the issue still remains that non admin users cannot successfully download files.

Update!

I figured out how to get it to work.  I had to select " Choose or upload files" while editing the section of the wiki that the file belonged in, and then drag and drop the download link for the particular file into the document and then simply rename it to what it was before instead of "download"

I suppose when I originally linked it into the document I had done so incorrectly.

Anywho, Thank you for your assistance!
