Im not being defensive. If you look at the way tiki is written or rather has evolved over the many releases from the original it is indeed due for a optimisation session. However with so many CVS commitors around 250! it would be very hard to enform yet more coding standards and rules for database access.
Maybe in Tiki-2 it will be addressed, but thats a long long way away. We have Tiki 1.10 and 1.11 to code and release first.
